Raw Chocolate Bark

The Raw Chocolate Bark demonstration at my most recent Health & Nutrition Group Coaching event was a major hit, therefore I thought I would share it with you.

It’s a great introductory recipe for chocolate making beginners and a great way to experiment using raw cacao powder. Check out my Regular Chocolate Bars Vs Raw Chocolate table below.

8 Simple Steps to make your own Raw Chocolate Bark

Prep time 15 minutes

Freeze time 15 minutes

Serves 4

 

Ingredients

¼ cup raw hazelnuts

¼ cup raw almonds

(feel free to use your favourite nut combo)

¼ cup dried cranberries

½ cup extra-virgin coconut oil

½ cup raw cacao powder or cocoa powder

¼ cup of maple syrup

Pinch of pink salt

 

Directions

  • Roast nuts in the oven 180 degrees for 10 mins
  • Separate the almonds from the hazelnuts
  • Place the hazelnuts on a damp paper towel (For best results sandwich the damp paper towel with 2 dry paper towels) and then rub vigorously together, this will remove the hazelnut shells
  • Chop the hazelnuts and the almonds into small pieces and leave to one side
  • Line a large baking sheet with 2-3 layers of parchment paper

To make the chocolate:

  1. Bring to boil a little water in a saucepan and place a large glass bowl on top of the saucepan (you can Google melting water bath for a similar version) and melt the coconut oil
  2. Remove the glass bowl from the heat and turn off the stove
  3. Whisk into the melted coconut oil the cacao powder, maple syrup and salt
  4. Stir in half the nuts and half the cranberries
  5. Spoon the melted chocolate onto the baking sheet
  6. Top with the remaining nuts and cranberries
  7. Place on a flat surface in the freezer for 15-20 minutes
  8. Remove from freezer and use your hands snap into sharable pieces

 

Enjoy

If you have any left put it back in the freezer in a sealable tub for a later date it will last for a couple of days
